Welcome to Preschool

Dear Parents of Preschoolers,

Welcome to our Sunday School class designed for preschoolers.  We are excited to have your child in this class!

We are thrilled to introduce you and your child to Boz.  Boz is the “Green Bear Next Door.”  He and his friends will help us teach your child about God, Jesus, and the Bible.  Please see the attached curriculum overview for a specific outline of what your child will be learning throughout the year.

Each week the Bible Story will be shared in both the first and second service classes.

The Bible Story will be reinforced in class with an activity page.  These pages will be sent home each week.  We encourage you to ask your child about the week’s Bible Story and activity page.

We also encourage you to visit the Boz webpage for additional resources to be used at home.  Your child will enjoy online games, coloring pages, and more.  You will benefit from lesson plans and fun activities.  It’s a great site: http://www.bozthebear.com/home.asp .

Upon your first visit in this class, please complete a “Child Card” so our volunteers have the needed information on your child including any allergies, medical conditions, or special accommodations that need to be met.

Upon each visit, please sign in your child.  It is our policy that each child shall be permitted to leave only with the person who drops him/her off.  If your needs require that someone else pick up your child, please notify the staff when dropping off.  Please let that person know we will ask for ID to ensure the safety of your child.  Also, in an effort to minimize traffic in the preschool room, please have one adult only (no older siblings) drop off and pick up your child when at all possible.

To ensure a healthy room, please adhere to our sickness policy as outlined below:

If your child has had any of the following symptoms within the past 48 hours, please keep him/her home: fever, colored nasal discharge, conjunctivitis (“pink eye”), eye or ear discharge, vomiting or diarrhea, skin infections, chronic cough or sore throat, cold sores around mouth, impetigo, active chicken pox or recent chicken pox vaccine (within 3 days), and any acute infectious disease.

If your child is being treated with antibiotics, they should be on the medication at least 24 hours prior to coming to the class.  Please also note our workers cannot administer any type of medication.  If your child has a clear runny nose or other symptoms due to allergies, please let us know.  We realize some symptoms hang on when a child is not contagious.  Thank you for doing your part in ensuring a healthy and comfortable environment.

Finally, please note that the preschool class welcomes all children three and four (pre-kindergarten) who are potty-trained.  If your preschooler is not yet potty-trained, they are welcome to attend our Toddler program.
